The GGSL was founded in order to give “35 somethings” a place to play soccer, develop their skills, and be among friends - all in a safe environment. We cater to those who want to make soccer a key part of both their sporting and social lives.

It is critical for all players in the GGSL to realize that we demand a higher standard of our players - consider this the “price of admission” to the GGSL. You may need to consciously change your ingrained soccer behaviour in order to participate in the GGSL. In the GGSL you cannot:

1. Engage in physical contact with opponents, including shoulder-to-shoulder contact.
2. Restrain opponents with arm or shirt tugging.
3. Defend by running into opponents, either before or after he receives the ball.
4. Recklessly collide with opponents and be vindicated simply by noting that you “got the ball.”
5. Direct verbal or physical abuse at either referees, opponents, or teammates.

We do not consider the above behaviours “part of the game”. On the other hand, the GGSL is all about:

1. Enjoying the fabulous game of soccer
2. Developing your soccer skills
3. Getting some exercise
4. Playing on a team
5. Seeing friends
6. Respecting all opponents, regardless of their skill level
7. Marking the end of the workweek
8. Getting the weekend off on the right foot
9. Enjoying post-game socializing with teammates and opponents
